Captain Wagget is almost the star of the picture... never realised till reviewing. Want that large plaid tie. Great stuff. Further reading.

Adding movie to Que and have ordered paperback on Biblio.com. I need to starting thinking of my winter reading now. Moving from Oklahoma to Montana = Winter coming earlier than I'm used to.

Great post! This reminds me of an old episode of "The Irish R.M." in which a wiskey ship runs aground in rural Ireland and hundreds of the locals show up to "Help rescue the cargo". This is probably where they got the idea for that episode from.

@noah teh book and film whiskey galore is based on the SS Politician that ran aground in theat area of the outer hebredies in 1940 i believe, true story... will have to look not the Irish version too.

@EB book is great. dry as a bone humor

I found a VHS copy at Amazon.com and fortunately still have my old vhs machine. Purchased it and watched it, absolutely marvelous. Brilliant. Priceless. Thank you for the tip!

@MPB brilliant. have to say the vhs copies get a little dark. was really pleased w/ the dvd i found, much brighter. anyway. good stuff.
